Proteinuria (abnormal proteins in the urine) is a common side effect of stroke, but there is little known about the connection between proteinuria and patients who also suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure) following a stroke. Previous studies have hypothesized a 50–92 percent increased risk of stroke with the presence of proteinuria in hypertension patients. (April 16, 2018)
