Jennifer Greer first noticed that her mother, Carolyn, had trouble finding words to express herself. Diagnosed with dementia, the 73-year-old now can’t talk or take care of herself. “We did a lot of brain activities, such as word flash cards, to delay losing cognitive skills,” says Greer, who lives in Dallas. “If we hadn’t done those things, she would have declined much faster.” (July 9, 2018)
